couple weeks ago that when i ran for governor, they thought it was too conservative to be governor of wisconsin. if the guy running for the senate and i don't think i'm conservative enough. even within the party were becoming less and less tolerant. i've always thought tolerance and stability was part of our -- supposed to be part of our dna. our political dna. i think the operative word here is courage. give me a classic example. my colleague and i, jack hiler, indiana, 1994 and ran for governor because the controversial issue in the foyer and we have a republican caucus. i remember jack standing nothing saying i don't remember what the issue was, but he stood up and he said, this is the boat that we should all cast. it may cost me my election, but i think it's the right thing to do. he castaic, he lost. i'm not saying that is the reason he didn't succeed in his reelect, but it was the statement of courage i'm talking about. for my you is the right thing to do, take it or the day. a quick anecdote, attorney for governor before the primary i had 100% voting record with the nra. 100%. vietnam ve
